Just ignore all the applications and find friends. Then you can chat with them or send messages to them. If you go to your personal messages or inbox you can send stuff to people that won't be all over your 'wall' and it's private. It's all about 'networking' or as in my case stalking. I don't do a ton on there unless one of my buddies I want to talk to is on and then we'll chat for a while. It reallly looks more complicated than it is. I promise!!
